"I love Optometry as it allows me to care for people in a specialized way for each person. For example, I was able to help a legally blind young lady through cataract surgery and get her sight restored. She is now a functional college student living her life."

Born and raised in Sacramento with 2 bothers and one sister, Dr. Gittins still enjoys outdoor activities that include sports, managing a cattle ranch, and baseball. Go Giants! His wife and six children are his true joy. Five of them are college age and there youngest is only 10 years old. "We are very blessed and excited to see how they shape their lives and bless the community ."

Dr. Gittins supports a number of community programs. From WEAVE, to Teen Challenge and various youth programs, low vision clinics and out reach vision projects. "We just sent two of our doctors to Mexico for a vision outreach program where they examined and dispensed hundreds of pairs of glasses. So any unused glasses that can be donated are put to good use."
